Kindergarten
Our main goal at Kiambu Hillcrest Kindergarten is to develop learners who holistically remain active and think logically in their social life with others.
Kiambu Hillcrest Kindergarten provides a holistic education for children aged 21/2 and 51/2 years, with the provision of wide range of learning experiences through both indoor and outdoor activities.
Our approaches to teaching ensure that our children develop a positive self-concept which in turn gives them confidence and allows an open-minded approach to learning leading to a self-driven life long learners who contribute positively to the existing community.
Our play group classroom environment offers a rich variety of play material. Our teachers encourage curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Children spend the most of their time in a variety of activities including; art, block building, dramatic play, sorting and matching games, gardening and sensory activities among others.
Kiambu Hillcrest Kindergarten offers an adapted Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The foundation stage curriculum is organized into six learning areas;
Art and design
At Kiambu Hillcrest Kindergarten, children are encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings, through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role play and design. We have well trained and qualified staff and provision of enabling environments both indoor and outdoor to enhance learning.
Physical Development
Kiambu Hillcrest Kindergarten provides opportunities for young children to keep active and interactive; and to develop their co-ordination, control and movement.
Mathematical Development
This provides children with opportunities to develop and improve their counting, understanding and using numbers, calculating, simple addition and subtraction problems and to describe shapes, spaces and measures.
Knowledge and understanding of the world
This involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, and the environment.
Communication and Language
This involves giving children opportunities to experience a rich language environment; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves and to speak and listen in a range of situations.
Personal, social and emotional development
This involves helping children to develop a positive sense of themselves, and others; to form positive relationships and develop respect for others; develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings and to have confidence in their own abilities.
We aim to provide every child with an excellent educational experience, which is enjoyable, wholistic, inculcates moral values and enables them to reach their full potential.
